She will perform the role of the wife of Jose Abad Santos in a new opera based on the life of the Filipino hero on February 18 & 19, 2000, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Main Stage in Manila.
The Opera Guild of the Philippines will present Don Juan (Don Giovanni set in the Philippines) at the CCP Main Stage. As well as being Artistic Director of the Opera Guild, Asensio is also the vocal coach of the production, which will be staged on March 4 & 5, 2000.
The University of the Philippines will tour Mayo... Bisperas ng Liwanag in the US and in Europe from April to October 2000. She will sing the role of Anastacia in some cities.
She will appear in various major US cities during the Fall 2000 tour of the Music Theater Foundation of the Philippines' presentation of On Wings of Song, a cultural show featuring leading Filipino classical singers.
She will write the English libretto/lyrics for the first in a series of presentations called Best of Opera, a humorous adaptation of different excerpts from well known operas.
She will write the libretto (in Filipino) for a new children's opera based on a Filipino legend and a well-loved fairy tale, to be staged in December 2000.
